Battle of the Twitter clients: TweetDeck vs Seesmic Desktop

Anyone who is connected to the Internet knows that the most of the current business models should be modeled around social networks to provide a good PR, and Twitter right now is one of the most talked about platform.

Now with this in mind many companies brought forward many social platform applications that can connect and manage multiple accounts with popular networking sites.
TweetDeck and Seesmic Desktop are two such applications, both offer a good set of features but which one is better? Lets take a look at both applications.

TweetDeck

TweetDeck

Seesmic Desktop

Seesmic Desktop
Platform wise both come with support for OS X, Linux and Windows and are designed for mac and PC since the program runs in a Adobe air environment.
The installation procedure is a breeze for both applications but you need to install Adobe Air before you can proceed.

So what sets these two apart? Well users have been complaining about a lot of bugs in Seesmic Desktop, I tried Seesmic myself and it does seem to have a bit more bugs compared to other tweeting applications out there. I had some bad experiences of my status updating in Facebook rather than in Twitter. A temporary error maybe? or is it just the 0.3 version showing it's teeth ?

Still with both Seesmic and TweetDeck offering the same features do I really need to settle for something less?

So lets take a look at its features both offer support for multiple accounts, they both support Facebook and Twitter updates and they both support services like twitpic. So what sets them apart a bit? Well for those Twitter fans out there you know that Twitter has a set a limit of API usage to 150 every hour.
English please? Well what it means is that your application can access Twitter only 150 times per hour. Seems like a lot? Well, for some its not.
Now TweetDeck will allow you to use it up to the limit with each refresh counting as one usage and with Seesmic you need to set the limit ( a maximum of 80 per hour).
Well that ain't so bad but i think TweetDeck did it better.

Well both applications offer to make groups of your Twitter friends, keep the Twitter in sync but only TweetDeck provides an application for iPhone (for now).

What is good about TweetDeck is the fact that they offer a good and easy to use interface and have less bugs.

Seesmic Desktop on the other hand doesn't come close to its competitor even though they are offering almost the same set of features. When their site boasts about a download of more than 1.5 mil, I guess there is no surprise, considering the number of users on Twitter.

So final word? Well Tweetdeck wins hands down, it really brings the idea of Tweeting to users in an awesome way.

P.S Although not covered in this review, Twhirl is another great application that you need to check out if you are into Twitter.
